Sónia Carvalho Ribeiro é Professora do departamento de cartografia do Instituto de Geociências, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG). É bolsista de Produtividade Pesquisa (CNPq) e editora associada do jornal Land Use Policy. Desde Novembro 2020 Sónia está na coordenação do programa de Mestrado e Doutorado em Análise e Modelagem de Sistemas Ambientais (PPG-AMSA). Sónia atua em fóruns de tomada de decisão que incluem o Sustainable Use of Wild Species Assessment, International Panel on Biodiversity and Ecosystem services (IPBES) e a IUFRO landscape ecology.

Sónia is professor de Cartography at Institute of Geosciences (IGC), Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). Productivity Scholarship by CNPq and associate editor of Land Use Policy Journal. Since November 2020 she leads the Postgraduate program – Master and PhD-on Environmental Modelling– PPG – Análise e Modelagem de Sistemas Ambientais. Sónia´s work is at the science policy interface. She participates in decision making forums including the Sustainable Use of Wild Species Assessment by the International Panel on Biodiversity and Ecosystem services (IPBES) and is member of the co cordinator in Latin America of IUFRO landscape ecology.
