Biodiversity – Methodology
We used the most comprehensive dataset on biodiversity to date to identify the priority areas for biodiversity conservation in the Brazilian Amazon.
We mapped the benefits or values of hydrological services from the Amazon rainforest. These include an “origin value map”, that is, a spatial representation of the values stemming from the intrinsic or physical characteristics of individual patches of forest in terms of where services originate as well as a “destination value map”, corresponding to plots of land where these objects (services, etc.) are actually valued.
