Publications

There is a growing intellectual production by PPG-AMSA professors in the upper strata: over the for-year period, 64% (148 out of 229 publications in journals) and 30% of the total production (148 out of 483 of the total publications) of the teaching production was in the strata A1 and A2. 148 publications in the higher strata were distributed annually as follows: 29 publications in 2017, 26 publications in 2018, 53 in 2019 and 40 in 2020 (same in pandemic context).

Students and graduates (as of 2012 – five years before the beginning of the four-year period) published, from 2017 to 2020, 133 articles in journals, 30 book chapters and 69 publications in annals. These metrics are considered excellent and show the proactivity and the motivation of our students and graduates to publish. Of these publications, 23 (18%) are in journals A1, 34 (25.5%) in journals with Qualis A2, 25 (18%) in journals classified as Qualis B1, 21 (15%) are from Qualis B2 journals. Only 22 (16%) are in journals not classified in Environmental Sciences.

Permanent Professors (DPs) certainly encourage this proactivity in relation to publication and call on their mentees to publish jointly in quality journals with a high impact factor. Of the 84 articles published in journals A1 by DPs, more than 20% had the participation of students and/or graduates. Of the 64 A2 publications of DPs, more than 25 (above 40%) include students and or graduates of PPG-AMSA as co-authors. These metrics and the encouragement of co-authorship among DP, Students and graduates have given good results, but should be encouraged even more.

To date, the class with the highest number of publications was the 2016 class (defense in 2018) which, in total, published 37 articles. The following is the 2017 class (defense 2019) with 22 publications and the 2014 class (defense 2016) with 20 publications. It should be noted that the most recent classes have a lower number of works given that most works are under peer review. In addition, as our doctoral degree started in 2018, we have no students yet with the thesis defended and, therefore, without finalized research, so that the number of publications proves to be extremely significant.
