The Serra da Canastra National Park is located in the southwest of the state of Minas Gerais. The park shelters several phyto physiognomies of the Brazilian Cerrado with predominance of various types of native grasslands. Created by decree nº 70.355, of April 3, 1972, with 200 thousand hectares, it preserves the source of the São Francisco River as well as other several other natural monuments, including the Casca Danta huge waterfall. It also comprise 83 thousand hectares, including the “Chapadão da Canastra”, and 117 thousand hectares in the Babilônia region, within the municipalities of Capitólio, Vargem Bonita, São João Batista do Glória and Delfinópolis to be settled.
